I started sketching as a kid while growing up north of Laramie, Wyoming. My interest in art comes from my love of nature. I spent my summers with a sketch pad in hand and studying everything from roping steers, dead remains in the brush and the pines in the Snowy Range.
I had two phenomenal High School Art instructors to get me started on the basics; Georgina Haddenhorst at University Prep. and Tim Collins at Laramie Sr. High. Along the way there were a few other great instructors in college that challenged and taught me more.
Painting and drawing has always allowed me to express myself. I try to replicate the feelings I get when looking at an object or a view. I primarily work in pastels and oils, but new favorites include ‘Dry Point Printmaking’, paper Mache, and ceramics.
I have entered competitions with success over the years and I think to myself, "Someday when I grow up, I want to be an artist."
