AVA Community Art Center is looking for a dynamic self-starter to join our team as Program Coordinator. This role will manage daily logistics and operations relating to all classes, workshops and exhibitions within the Art Center as well as assisting the Director to develop, sustain, grow and organize the Art Center. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for:
Managing class enrollments including waitlists, follow up calls to absentee students and processing student requests for refunds, credits and class changes.
Interacting and engaging with artists, customers and students, responding positively and efficiently to questions or concerns raised and providing effective pragmatic solutions.
Working with the Director to review and evaluate current programming activities and identify and develop new areas to facilitate the growth of AVA’s overall programs.
Supporting the Art Center Director with public events including Open Houses, exhibitions in the AVA Art Gallery, lectures and other events.
Working with Marketing to assist in the creation and production of marketing materials across print, web and social media.
Scheduling with artists for specific art shows, conduct promotions for specific shows, properly preparing art for shows, hang and promote shows.
Assist customers with sales from the art supply section and gift shop at AVA. General customer relations.
Logistics, ordering, inventory management.
Team player and be willing to assist other employees in a small office.
All other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
Associates degree in art education, art history or a visual arts-related discipline OR three years’ minimum administrative experience in an educational environment.
Strong and demonstrable working knowledge of visual arts, media processes and art history.
Strong organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, efficiently and multi-task.
Preferred, but not mandatory, an existing active network and strong working relationships with other art organizations and professionals within the art field.
Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Publisher required, with previous experience with In-Design and Photoshop preferred.
Background check required.
