Are you feeling disappointed that your artwork did NOT get into a competitive juried art show such as AVA’s Art Matters? (It’s all part of being an artist, but still not a pleasant feeling. Yuck!) Or, perhaps you have something that hasn’t been a good fit for recent themed shows?
This open call is an opportunity to show your most excellent, wonderful artwork!
The idea for this show was inspired by the painters of Paris in 1863. When they had their art submissions rejected by the selection committee of the Paris Salon, they decided to present their own exhibit, Salon des Refuses. The paintings were not only seen, but the exhibit changed the perception of what was considered acceptable art. Thank goodness times have changed. Acceptable artwork is now created by women and men in a the full spectrum of media and styles. Woohoo!
Artworks must be delivered to AVA with appropriate hanging system ready for display. All work must be original and cannot have previously shown at AVA. Frames are encouraged, but not required, for this exhibit. Maximum dimensions of 48" in any direction. Any two dimension (2D) or three dimension (3D) artworks in any medium, subject and style are eligible for submission. Inventory Sheets and W-9s can be provided by AVA via email or in-person upon request and must be completed at time of delivery.
