Operations Assistant (Part-Time)
AVA Community Art Center 

AVA is seeking a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Operations Assistant who has a genuine appreciation for the visual arts and enjoys working in a creative community environment. This part-time position plays an important role in supporting daily operations, engaging with visitors, and helping create a welcoming and inspiring experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
The ideal candidate is personable, proactive, and enthusiastic about supporting a thriving arts community. They are confident assisting customers, organized in managing inventory, and motivated to contribute to a space where creativity and community come together.

Position Overview
The Operations Assistant will provide exceptional customer service, perform retail and exhibition sales, support inventory management, and contribute to a vibrant gallery atmosphere. The ideal candidate values the arts, understands the importance of community cultural spaces, and takes pride in supporting artists and patrons alike.

Schedule: Variable (may require evenings and weekends in coordination with AVA Events and Programs)

Hours: Part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) 

Location: AVA Community Art Center, 509 West 2nd Street, Gillette WY 82716

Compensation: Hourly wage up to $16.00/hour based on qualifications

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist gallery visitors, students, artists, and patrons in a warm and professional manner
  • Process retail and artwork sales using AVA’s point-of-sale system
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with stock management
  • Support merchandising and ensure gallery and retail displays remain clean and visually appealing
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures
  • Perform general administrative and operational tasks as assigned
  • Help cultivate a positive, creative, and welcoming environment that reflects AVA’s mission

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred (but not required): Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Arts Administration, Business, Marketing, Retail Management and/or Communications
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Previous sales experience preferred
  • Comfortable operating a point-of-sale system and learning new software platforms
  • Proficient with computers and common office software
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Reliable, professional, and able to work independently
  • Demonstrated appreciation for the visual arts; experience in an arts, gallery, or cultural setting is a plus!
  • Must be at least age 18+ to apply
