AVA's Fall 2021 Plein Air Private Site Visit with Kara Creek Ranch
Join AVA for an exclusive opportunity to experience this unique private site visit and to work among regional artists during our Plein Air day!
On Friday, September 24th, we will be meeting at AVA at 8am to caravan to Kara Creek Ranch near Sundance, WY. Artists will spend time at this authentic working ranch for seven hours while practicing their plein air techniques aside other artists working in a variety of mediums.
Attendees are welcome to bring coolers with food & beverages to enjoy throughout the work day. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chair and to wear appropriate attire respective to forecasted weather.
Artists may attend this private site visit at no charge. Suggested donations to attend the site are $10; all donations will support AVA Community Art Center.

From Sundance, take Interstate 90 West to exit 178. Go Under interstate and turn right and right again onto a gravel road. Go approximately 4 miles and take a right. Go 4 miles and the ranch is located on the right side of the road.
Kara Creek Ranch is an authentic working ranch that runs cattle on over 70,000 acres. The activities on the ranch are tied to the actual needs of the ranch and vary based on season. Activities on the ranch include brandings, cattle round-ups, cattle drives to summer grazing or winter pastures, local rodeos and events. In addition to the normal cowboy activities, visitors can learn about traditional western style cooking, take walks in the Wyoming sunset amongst nature, and can visit Native American engravings in the rocks surrounding the ranch.
