Levi was raised in Apple Valley, California, a community known for “excellent schools, clean air, and open spaces.”
I found Levi on Skid Row hooked on fentanyl.
He shared, “I was doing so good two months ago. I was living with my dad again, had a decent job as a barback, and had a car.” He paused. “Then I relapsed. I’m out here on Skid Row ripping the wires from my braces out of my mouth because they hurt so d*** bad.”
Levi began to tear up.
I had a feeling so I asked. “Are you thinking about your dad?”
Tears streamed down his face. “Yes, I am a disappointment.”
“As a father myself, I do not believe we ever stop loving our sons. What kind of work does your dad do?”
“He’s a psychologist/therapist.”
