“They call me The Boogeyman,” was the first thing he said to me. He went on, “I like your mohawk. I’m a mohawk man myself. I’ve had this one since I was 12.”
Boogeyman’s wheelchair battery had died, and the chair is very heavy. Tech (the man behind Boogeyman in this photo) and I, grunted in our struggle to lift the chair over the curb and onto the sidewalk safe from traffic.
“How’d you lose your legs?” I later asked Boogeyman as we rested at the tent he lives in.
“Diabetes.”
