BOBBY LOVES ARE BEAUTIFUL SOULS
Bobby Love and I hooked up again in Skid Row. Bobby, unhoused and full of ideas for movies to someday produce in Hollywood, dresses and performs on the streets of Los Angeles as Michael Jackson.
I took this photo of Bobby, early in the morning, as we walked into a store in Skid Row together, so he could get a cup of coffee. In front of the store, on the sidewalk, an unhoused woman did Bobby a solid and watched the sound equipment paramount to Bobby’s financial survival.
For me, this photograph is a powerful reminder of all the many people on America’s streets that are busting their a** to survive. We don’t know everyone’s story; we don’t know the series of events that took them there. We don’t know what hardships they’re facing daily. Being unhoused is an extremely hard life. What I want to get across to anyone that looks at this photograph is this, treat humans with respect, especially those that are unhoused. Don’t be an a**hole.
There are Bobby Loves out there, and they are beautiful souls.
