LIFE SUCKS SCUM F***
I remember taking this photo. It is one of my favorites. The man, his life, his tattoo, the fact that I was surrounded by intravenous drug users and felt as though I was home, my own addictions long behind me, but knowing that every day can be your last clean day, and you gotta work to stay clean. The thought of how big everything is and how curiosity and love and optimism are better to go through life with than fear, a closed mind, and pessimism. I was no longer afraid of death, my work began to feel spiritual, I was beginning to feel connected to something way bigger than myself. It transcended money, politics, and even blood. It’s when I began to realize I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
