The pottery wheel can seem a little intimidating. It spins, it wobbles, your clay does strange things—and suddenly you’re questioning everything.
That’s where John comes in.
Over eight sessions, longtime ceramicist and community favorite John Werbelow will walk you through the entire wheel-throwing process—from centering clay to pulling forms, trimming, glazing, and finishing. Whether you’re completely new or want to build on the basics, this is a space to learn, mess up, adjust, and try again.
You’ll make functional pieces like mugs and bowls, and if you're feeling bold, maybe something sculptural. It's equal parts technical skill and creative play—and it’s meant to be messy.
No experience required. Just show up with some curiosity and sleeves you can roll up.
