This chalk pastel class introduces students to the expressive potential of soft pastels through color layering, blending, and mark-making techniques. Participants will study value, light, and color relationships while creating vibrant drawings with rich texture and atmosphere. Through guided exercises and longer studies, students will learn how to build depth, soften transitions, and use bold color intentionally. Emphasis is placed on observation, surface interaction, and developing confidence with a direct, hands-on medium that responds quickly to both subtle and expressive approaches.
