Watercolor 101 with Dara Corkery Saturday January 5th 10AM - 4PM
Materials and Equipment used in watercolor will be discussed. This includes; paper, brushes, palettes, paints and easels. This will be an overview.
The three basic techniques used in watercolor are washes, wet and wet and glazing. Demonstrations will be given on these three techniques with time to practice them. This along with an opportunity to explore what a pointed round brush can do and sample different watercolor papers.
Students will need to bring a 9x12 Fluid 100 cold press finish water block table watercolor tablet.These are available at AVA or you can find them online.
In the morning a demonstration will be given on a very simple still life painting. The students will then have an opportunity to practice what they have learned on their own paintings in the afternoon with an hour lunch.
