Introduction to Fused Glass with Kim Silbaugh
Join Kim Silbaugh and unlock the artistry of fused glass in this comprehensive workshop! Perfect for all skill levels, participants will delve into the fundamentals of fused glass making. Under Kim's expert guidance, each attendee will create two unique designs: one to be showcased on a collective "The Singing Tree" installation, and another to take home.
All necessary tools and design materials are thoughtfully provided and included in the workshop fee. Kim Silbaugh brings a wealth of experience, having shared her expertise at numerous National Art Educator Conferences and earned accolades for educational excellence, including the prestigious Power of Art award from Robert Rauschenberg. Her journey spans diverse artistic ventures, from mosaics in Ravenna, Italy under Luciana Nuturno's mentorship, to juried exhibitions of her steel and glass sculptures.

2024 Summer Art Camps
AVA's Summer Art Camps provide three sessions during Summer 2024 for Campbell County youth to learn from qualified community instructors about the broad application of clay and a variety of processes an artist can utilize to create quality, functional ceramic artworks. Students will also have the opportunity to learn many styles of mixed media. The camps will introduce a variety of tools, art projects, and materials to create a finished product.

Introduction to Digital Photography with Josue Laboy
Join local photographer Josue Laboy at AVA in August for an 8-Day Introduction to Digital Photography workshop series!
During the weekly Tuesday and Thursday sessions, Josue will present a brief history of photography and how that relates to our day-to-day lives. Students will be introduced to basic photography principles while learning to use and operate a DSLR camera, then spend time applying the principles with hands-on training.
Principles to be covered include the triangle of exposure, the inclusion of light (flash) for photography, color theory, framing and composition.
Students will also have an opportunity to visit Area 59 to learn introductory editing tools utilizing Adobe Lightroom Classic. Participating students can expect to leave this workshop series equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to produce strong photographs, from the first snap to the final frame!
