My name is Andrew Call. I'm a practicing photographer, writer, and artist living in Laramie, Wyoming.
As a writer, I’m an active member of Wyoming Writers, Inc., the Wyoming-based writing non-profit. The organization puts on an annual conference for educating and providing publishing opportunities to Wyoming-based writers and those in the Rocky Mountain region.
As a photographer, I began working in wildlife and landscape photography while working in South Pass, Wyoming. The area provided opportunities to capture wildlife and scenery I might otherwise have missed. Since moving to Laramie, I’ve taken up portrait photography and have had a number of photos featured in gallery shows and art competitions.
As an artist, I work in both graphic design and digital photo manipulation. My solar eclipse designs were printed and sold on products during the solar eclipse a few years ago, and I was contracted to create an eclipse design for a gallery in Jackson. My eclipse designs, along with others, were printed on products and also sold in Lander at their annual mid-summer craft fair/music festival.
In early 2020, I started a series tentatively called “Reflections.” In the series, I reflect and digitally manipulate nature and flora photos I’ve taken to create new, colorful, abstract pieces. Before the pandemic, I had planned to shop the series around the state, but those plans were put on hold. These pieces ("Strawberry Cream" and "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves") are prints from different photography projects created before the pandemic. Both express my focus on color, contrast, and the details found under the shadows.
